Every year around late September, I get this itch.
Suddenly I want to glue things, paint things, wrap twine around things that did not ask to be wrapped in twine.
It’s a fall thing. You probably know exactly what I mean.
I’ve rounded up 15 fall crafts I’ve either made myself or watched a friend make while I stole the idea for later.
Nothing here needs a Cricut, a craft degree, or a Saturday you don’t have. Just an afternoon, a hot glue gun, and maybe a candle burning in the background because we’re setting a mood here.
Let’s get into it.
Best Fall Crafts To Try This Season
1. DIY Fall Wreath
Grapevine or foam wreath base, faux leaves, a few pinecones, and your glue gun.
That’s really it.
Don’t space everything evenly. Cluster the leaves in two or three spots instead.
It looks less like a craft kit and more like something you’d find at a boutique.
A ribbon bow at the top seals the deal.

2. Painted Pumpkin Centerpiece
No carving. My hands thank me every year for this one.
Grab faux pumpkins in a few sizes and paint them cream, sage, terracotta, or whatever feels warm to you.
Matte finish reads more expensive than glossy, for whatever reason.
Cluster three or four on a tray with some dried wheat tucked in. Done.
3. Cinnamon Stick Candle Wrap
Ten minutes, tops, and your whole living room smells like a bakery.
Wrap cinnamon sticks around a plain pillar candle, glue them in place, tie a piece of jute twine around the middle.
That’s the whole project. Set it on the coffee table and forget you made it yourself.

4. Fall Leaf Garland
Got a mantel or a bare staircase railing? This fixes it.
String faux leaves along twine, mixing orange, red, and that deep burnt gold so it doesn’t look too matchy. Let it sag a little when you drape it.
Weirdly, the imperfect drape is what makes it look real.

5. Mason Jar Fall Lanterns
I’ve never met a mason jar craft I didn’t like. This one’s no exception.
Drop battery fairy lights into a jar, tuck in a few faux leaves or a cinnamon stick, tie twine around the rim.
Line a few up on your porch steps. Watch them do all the work at night.

6. Pressed Leaf Wall Art
This one takes patience. About a week, actually, since the leaves need to press flat inside a heavy book.
Once they’re ready, frame one big leaf on its own or cluster a few smaller ones together.
It’s slow, but it gives a wall that quiet, collected-over-time look you can’t fake with store bought art.

7. Pumpkin Spice Candle Pour
If you’ve been curious about candle making, start here.
Melt soy wax, stir in pumpkin spice fragrance oil, pour it over a centered wick, then walk away for 24 hours while it cures.
There’s a specific kind of pride in lighting a candle you made with your own two hands.
8. Dried Orange Slice Garland
Slice oranges thin. Bake them low and slow until they’ve dried out completely. String them onto twine with cinnamon sticks in between.
Honestly, the color does most of the work here. That deep sunset orange against plain twine just feels like fall.
9. Fall Wood Slice Coasters
You don’t need to be good at painting for this. I promise.
Grab plain wood slice coasters, paint a simple leaf or pumpkin outline on top, seal it with a matte finish once dry.
Even a wobbly leaf still reads as intentional once it’s under glass.

10. Autumn Pinecone Bundles
Group pinecones in threes, tie them at the top with twine or plaid ribbon, tuck in a bit of dried floral for texture.
Scatter a few across your table or windowsill. Barely any effort, but it looks like you gathered them on a walk.
11. Fabric Pumpkin Craft (No Carve)
For anyone who’s over the mess of real pumpkins, myself included.
Cut a circle of fabric, gather it around a stuffed base, secure with a rubber band, tie twine at the top. A cinnamon stick works as the stem.
No mushy porch surprises come November.

12. Fall Scented Sachets
Fill small fabric pouches with dried cloves, cinnamon, and orange peel. Tie them shut with twine or a bit of ribbon.
Tuck one in a drawer, your car, your gym bag, wherever. It’s the fall version of a car air freshener, but nicer.
13. Twine-Wrapped Pumpkins
Wrap a faux pumpkin completely in jute twine, glue the ends down, leave the stem showing.
Such a small texture change, but it instantly reads more farmhouse, less craft store. Mix a few in with your painted pumpkins for contrast.
14. Acorn Topiary
This one’s a bit more involved, fair warning.
Glue faux acorns onto a foam ball, mount it on a small dowel, plant the whole thing in a pot with floral foam.
Worth the extra time though. A pair of these on a console table looks pulled straight from a catalog.
15. Fall Floral Arrangement in a Vase
When in doubt, just arrange something. Dried pampas, wheat stems, and a few faux sunflowers in a ceramic vase covers most of it.
Vary the heights, let a stem or two lean sideways. Five minutes, and it somehow ties the whole room together.
